Selling to the EU or to a third country

The current process at our Zirndorf site (as of 8 May 2026): documents, plates, customs and deposit — explained step by step.

When selling to another EU country or to a third country, the process and paperwork required can vary considerably from country to country — and even from city to city. Here is the current procedure (as of 8 May 2026) at our site in Zirndorf, Bavaria, Germany:

Sale to an EU country

If you are interested, you will receive our quotation (proforma invoice). Once payment has been received, we will send you the invoice automatically.

If you bring your own registration plates or the vehicle is loaded for transport, you do not need any further service from us. If you need plates, registration and insurance for the transfer journey, we can handle this on your behalf with a power of attorney from you. The fee of €250 is charged in addition to the purchase price.

In both cases we need the following documents to sell to you tax-free:

  • Full company address
  • Tax ID
  • Commercial register extract (owner visible)
  • Owner's ID document
  • Our prepared forms returned with your signature and company stamp (delivery note, 2× transfer certificate, driver power of attorney, registration power of attorney, handover protocol)

Sale to a third country

The beginning is the same: you receive a quotation, and after payment the invoice.

We must then apply for export clearance with customs. Customs requires 24 hours for this.

If you have your own plates or the vehicle is loaded, you can collect the vehicle afterwards.

If you need plates, registration and insurance for the transfer from us, we can arrange this as well. Again, a fee of €250 applies in addition to the purchase price. To register the vehicle we need a registration power of attorney from you together with a copy of your ID.

Before departure you leave a deposit with us, agreed in advance, as security that the vehicle will leave the EU. You receive the full amount back immediately once export has been proven.

I hope this makes the often complicated German process a little clearer. If you have any questions, please contact me at any time.
